BOSS LADY-HIP HOP NATION
The word “boss” is tossed around all too often. In the case of Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia, it is earned and deserved. This Australian dynamo has contributed more to Hip-Hop than many who came before and after her. Dr. Jays is synonymous with Hip-Hop and fashion and she is the creator and host of the entertainment channel Dr. Jays Live.
Amelia started on her career path at a young age, being published in her native, Australia, and abroad by the time she was 17. She graduated from the University of Technology in Sydney with a degree in Journalism. Not one to make small moves, just a year out of college, she developed an urban music and lifestyle magazine Urban Hitz. A big accomplishment on its own, it also is the longest running and highest selling magazine in that genre, providing Hip-Hop news and culture to both New Zealand and Australia.
With the magazine doing well, Amelia continued her road to dominate Hip-Hop as a well-rounded personality. She started her hosting career with appearances on MTV Australia and hosting a syndicated radio show “Ladies Night.” Having left her mark in Australia, she began her international career in New York City. Amelia is currently holding down her Dr. Jay’s Live page, while also managing all editorial in her role as Content Manager for DJ Networks, which consists of DrJays.com, DJPremium.com and StreetStyle.com. As part of her takeover she is also the co-host of DJ Green Lantern’s Invasion radio show on Hip-Hop Nation (Sirius/XM) every Monday night.
The drive and success Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia has makes her a valuable addition to the judging panel. Not one to bite her tongue, Amelia will encourage success but will not go easy on the emcees. She worked hard to get where she is and expects nothing less from the contestants. Follow her on twitter @BossLadyNYC
